Word of The Week: Family

 any group of people closely related by blood or marriage, as parents, children, uncles, aunts, and cousins

Family is a place of connection. It is where we can be ourselves and while still being challenged for our beliefs. A place we can always come home to and one of your biggest groups of fans. Family does not have to mean a connection through blood, but instead those steady relationships. We could have a work family, school family, gym family as well as a friend family.

Our family has transformed over the years, shrinking and growing in many ways. For a long time, I was the only June birthday, then years later came Cameron and Zach and then Norah and Delaney, and most recently added was Brittany. Now June is a busy month of birthdays like the winter months.

Having the support of family has been a huge part of my survival through loss. The importance of creating that bond and accepting one another is a part of connection. That we don’t always have to agree, yet know we are still supported.
