Word Of The Week: Transformation
How often do we see these great stories of transformation whether it is a story of weight loss or when individuals transform their lives. Usually, when we notice the transformation, it is in the final stages, and we miss the time and effort it took to change, so of course it looks easy.
But change is never easy, if you think about it, without trying, we are constantly transforming, whether we attempt to make changes in our lives, or do nothing at all. Some changes come from the genetic factors we inherit; other transformations appear over time, things which accelerate our aging. What we can control with our health comes from what we consume and how we strengthen our mind and body. Even when we do nothing, our body is still aging.
In the book, Atomic Habits, James Clear states, habits are the compound interest of self-improvement. If you make these small changes and are one percent better every day for one year your improvement is 37.78. If you do nothing, you have nothing and with time you see the apparent results or decline. It is the slow pace of transformation that makes it easy for us to make a bad habit slide and no results without a quick fix makes us give up.
Maybe we should change the way we look at transformation, just think about improving 1percent daily and allow your effort and time to reveal your results.
