reliance on the integrity, strength, ability, surety, etc., of a person or thing; confidence.

I often wonder where my shortage of trust comes from, is it the absence of faith? Is it born from the circumstances of one’s life? Or is it something we must practice?

After losing Ryan, I had a hard time believing or trusting many things in the world. I think grief does that to us, it picks away at the foundation of our lives making everything unbalanced. Through the years, I had to rebuild that foundation, that kept crumbling with each sudden loss. 

Today I still struggle with trust, but I have learned to practice new patterns of understanding the ways in which our worlds change, are always the ways in which we grow.
