"Discipline is choosing between what you want now and what you want most" ~ Abraham Lincoln
The Year Of Focus: Week Five
Word of the week: Discipline
Discipline - noun
How often do we make apologies for our situation, or put things off for another day, another time when we “feel like it.” But did you know, later, when the things we put off are still not done, we have created doubt in our ability, needs and wants. So much of our potential is lost when we don’t reach for more, taking the necessary, disciplined, difficult steps towards bettering our days, our life or ourselves.
Discipline is never easy, and often frustrating, but discipline does force change as we go against the easy thing, the natural habits we rely on. Discipline is difficult when there are so many easier paths we could take, which is why we need it to follow through. If it was easy, everyone would do it.
With discipline, you gain wisdom, feel both pride and confidence. Discovering a feeling of satisfaction when you don’t give in to the easy path, staying the course on those challenging steps towards a goal. Discipline is when we recognize what is good for us is not always easy or what feels good in the moment. The life we want exists on the other side of denying what we want right now.
