Year Of Focus: Week 33

Word Of Week: Cultivate

Verb; to promote or improve the growth of (a plant, crop, etc.) by labor and attention.

Earlier this year I dedicated 75 days to complete two 45-minute work outs. One of the workouts would be yoga because of running and all my constant soreness. There were many days I dreaded getting started, I did not want to take the time on the mat, but more over I did not want to give up on the promise I made to myself. So, I pushed through the feelings and got busy slowing down, and just like every other time, I thanked myself for showing up and doing the thing that felt difficult to make time for by finishing feeling stronger and happier.

To cultivate a habit can feel like a drag, but sometimes if you attach it to a promise you make to yourself, it will help you to keep showing up. We spend our lives doing for others with dates and plans. We also need to cultivate the time for ourselves.

I got tired of watching the days, weeks and months go by without taking time for myself. This challenge kept me busy, and made me accountable for my time by accomplishing different tasks daily. I felt like my days had purpose and structure, finally recognizing It was up to me to cultivate the time and reclaim my strength, quiet, slow or alone time.

Sometimes all it takes is a nudge or a challenge to change something. Even just a promise to yourself to show up in new ways completing the work and cultivating a new life. In just a few weeks I plan to dedicate another 75 days to the things I want to focus on for this season. A goal that helps me cultivate change and keep another promise to myself.
