Being Me:  Week 51 Be kind to unkind people, they need it most

December theme: Unexpected kindness is the most powerful, least costly, and most underrated agent of hope


When I finally understood that someone being unkind was more about them than about me, my heart softened a bit and I began to recognize the pain that must be going on inside that person.

And while it is hard to not take an unkind act personally, to understand it is not about us is the first steps in protection. For if we allowed someone else's bad attitude to change ours, we would be in constant upset since there is always someone you will come across that is not happy.

It is always the EGO we are fighting when it comes to a bad attitude, and when I can separate myself from believing their actions are against me, I can see that it is only their version of the moment. Not in a self righteous way either, this is not a moment to decide that we are good and they are bad. It is difficult to resist the urge to defend ourselves, yet often walking away is our best protection. 

I am constantly practicing the art of not allowing my emotions to get the best of me, and try instead to find a kindness approach and like most things, it is a work in progress.

  • October - We can't become what we want by remaining what we are
  1. Do the work if you want change
  2. A mind stretched can never go back
  3. Healthier is not just what your eating, but what you think and say
  4. In the end we only regret the chance we did not take
  • November - Small seeds of gratitude will provide a harvest of hope
  1. Count your rainbows not your thunderstorms
  2. What consumes your mind controls your life
  3. Be grateful when things are going your way. Be graceful when they are not
  4. Interrupt anxiety with gratitude

 Mission Statement:  I will improve my overall health and wellness, use kindness and inspiration with a vision that creates  a community of giving and in doing so achieve my purpose in this life.
