Being Me: Week 31 - Let your light shine

"Don't be afraid to shine the world needs your light." ~Gabby Bernstein

Being Me / Week 31: Let your light shine

July Theme: Bold stripes, bright stars, brave hearts

Growing up a middle child of four I always liked to blend in. I never wanted to be the one to draw attention, that job was left for my older sister or younger brother. They beamed in the spotlight, where as I shrank from it in what was labeled as shyness.

But even as I grew and understood more of the world, I remained in my protective shell, unable to show the world who I was while hidden in this shroud of uncertainty.

I had always admired others around me who radiated with confidence, or what I perceived as confidence. But eventually learned that just because you can be outspoken in a crowd doesn't mean you have confidence. Over time I discovered how confidence comes from within, from learning and growing and trying new things.

And with time, age and knowledge I finally recognize how letting my light shine does not extinguish others light, it actually encourages others to shine in their own way.

And so I began my way,  in small, quiet steps. Steadying my focus on who I am, and loving her. By creating balance through inspiration and motivation I seek to create a brighter light. One that shares her strength, knowledge and compassion. Because isn't that what we are here to do?

Here at The Principal of change is an interesting read on 4 ways not to let others dim your light
