Being Me: Week 9 (What makes you happy)

Do more of what makes you happy

Being Me: Week 9 - What makes YOU happy

February theme - Before anything else, find yourself, be yourself and love yourself

Happiness is an inside job.

Happiness is a work in progress, a choice, and something we have to make time for.  It is a practice that requires you to respond vs react.  Happiness is a choice we make with every action we take, and with practice we can look inward, figure out what fill us up and quit blaming others for our unhappiness.

When asked what people want out of life, most often people want to be happy. But do you know what it is that makes you happy? It will never be the "things" that bring us happiness,  happiness is deeper than that.

Start making  lists of what makes you happy, then you can figure out where to fit them in your life.

It's not the big things that make us happy, often it is the little moments. But it is up to you to create the space for it.

Often when sadness overwhelms me it is more difficult to choose happiness. Whenever those melancholy moments arise, I try to move beyond myself and do something kind for someone else.

As we approach March, create a list of things that make you happy and try to check off one a day...

That first cup of coffee my favorite mug getting lost in a bookstore
writing reading by a fireplace date nights
pampering shopping with girlfriends watching sunrise/sunset
relaxing in the hot tub family time Norah time
pedicure a walk in nature go for a run
walk on the beach glass of wine creative play
 pay it forward artists date

After we lost Ryan I truly believed I would never be happy again and the proof of my unhappiness arrived in every new thing that came my way. No things could or would bring me joy or happiness, it was the small moments that allowed me to work through my grief and gain a new perspective on what is happiness.
