Being Me: Week 16

There came a time when the risk to remain tight in a bud was more painful than the risk it took to blossom ~ Anais Nin

Being Me: Week 16 - Time to blossom

April theme - Water your roots so your soul can blossom

The more you trust yourself, the more you bloom...

I grew tired of the stories I would tell myself to justify why I had not reached a particular goal or challenge. This revealed a need to focus on my excuses. In order to change my habits and achieve a goal required accountability for the decisions I make each day that do not align with the promises I want to keep.

Isn't that the purpose of a goal, the reminder of why we are doing things...

It was so easy to blame or deflect when I lost track of my goals, we live in a society of blame. If I arrive late, I blame the traffic, if I didn't finish an assignment I blame other obligations, and if I don't reach my goal, I find something else to blame. Deflecting the deeper truth to justify or feel better for what I did not achieve instead of expecting more.

But in this season of BEING ME, I want more. The decision to follow through with the promises I make will honor my soul in a way that brings the purpose and positive change I  seek.

By creating a pattern of specific habits to reach a goal, or finish a project, it comes down to my daily choices. Analyzing what could be done differently, and implementing those ideas tomorrow provide a focus. By breaking each goal into small daily decisions I can maintain a pace with forward  momentum. Maybe I won't see the results this week, but I will in  time.

Change is difficult and not everyone wants to see you as your best self because it makes them feel less.

Keeping my attitude and accountability, regardless of outside elements, creates the patterns that stick. But an obligation on the calendar could easily derail me. I needed the support from like minded friends who reminded me, it doesn't need to be big, just win the day.

Blazing my trail and letting go of what others think will allow me to  blossom in the way the slow blooms of spring arrive.  It requires doing what I need, learning from my mistakes and moving forward step by step.

The trick is to learn to see with your heart and not with your eyes...
