Week 25: Putting in the work

Theme: Motivation

Time has left a peculiar questioning in my thoughts and I feel overwhelmed as I sit to write these words. The topic, putting in the work, was my theme I had planned for this week last November. The significance of the words come as a cue to the focus I need halfway through the year. In a season of transformation, my goal is to amend my life and how I show up in the world. Examining the script that makes up my days became my reminder that nothing is set in stone. The mindset of my past can always be rewritten.

I arrived in the world quietly and approached everything with apprehension, unsure where I belonged. Moving throughly life unwilling to disturb or disrupt, reluctant to take up space, as if my presence was an issue, or my opinions too much. Finally, I am beginning to recognize how the approval of others is unnecessary. That I belong, just as I am and the people who are my tribe accept this.

My flaws are not secrets that need to be hidden, they are my marks of survival. The proof that I have lived in this world and grew through the heartache of my past. How I show up today is because of the ways I have shown up, right or wrong, we learn along the way. I am putting in the work to shift in a new direction, the one that holds my truth, regardless of what others think. Showing up and taking up space.
