"True friendship resists time, distance and silence"
Week 7 - Girlfriends
Theme: Love
What would we do without girlfriends?
Girlfriends
Our lives are greatly influenced by our community of friends. There to lift us when we are down, these individuals provide the light to help guide us on our journey. From the high school friendships that withstand the test of time, to the connections we form during our lifetime, friends deliver a steadiness to our day-to-day living.
When I count my blessings, I think about the many girlfriends in all aspects of my life. How fortunate am I to be surrounded by so many amazing women? Friends for decades, who continue showing up with loving support, a listening ear, and never a hint of judgment. We confide in one another, sharing our greatest joys and darkest tragedies, these friends are a constant source of encouragement.
Recently I read a story about how there are battle buddies in the army; a person who is there to support you, in and out of combat. Couldn’t we all use some battle buddies on our journey? Those friendships that share our burdens by encouraging us when life gets hard and offer a soft place to land.
These friendships have been shaped in many areas of my life. From where we learn, worship, work, and play. A few began after repeated trips to a local gift store, filled with my favorite things. Each visit strengthened our connection and planted the seeds of a lifelong friendship. Other friends bloomed from the love of memory keeping. The scrapbooking community connected us with its many weekend retreats where we would vacillate from laughter to tears, sharing the countless stories of our lives through words and photos.
Even my passion for running garnered more friendships. With our common goal of competing, regardless of the forecast, we clicked. Some of my closest friends to date came from this space that derives from our mutual aspiration of running and races. These friendships support the love/hate relationship of running while cheering for each new goal.
Make it your mission to uncover friendships that root you in the positive and remind you that you are enough.

Did you know how the months got their names?
February – Comes from the word februum (purification) and februa, the rites or instruments used for purification. These formed part of preparations for the coming of Spring in the northern hemisphere.
