"Balance means doing enough, not doing it all"
Theme: Balance
Week: 1
During these frigid winter months, the last thing I want to do is head outdoors and run, the bitter cold, too many layers and a chill before you even walk outside are enough to say nope, not today. But somehow, I keep doing it. And with that, I began to notice how the power of my thoughts could help or hinder any plans.
Our why is the reason we continue to go back into the cold. It is the energy we feel once we accomplish what we set out to do. These moments produce the smile you cannot erase, as well as a sense of pride. Supporting the decision to get back out there again and again.
I can talk myself into something as well as out. But once I open the door and step outside, I'm all in. Knowing I just need to set my watch and move. Pretty soon being cold is the last thing on my mind.
EVERY completed run brings a satisfaction for following through on a promise to myself and the happiness to know I want to do this again.
That is the sticking point in a goal, the why, the feeling, the exhilaration you can taste before you take that first step. There is pride with following through, and it starts with being mindful of the words you tell yourself.
Balance is not about running a half marathon for me, it is about the small steps I follow to get out and run, even when contemplation provides every excuse not to. Returning to the excitement I am bursting with at the finish fuels the wish to go again...

Did you know how the months got their names?
January - First month of the year, named after the Roman god of doors, Janus, because this month is the door into the new year.
