"Pay less attention to your cell and more attention to your soul."
We are linked in our humanity the way the earth holds a tree, so that tree can hold a nest, so that nest can hold a bird, so that bird can drop a seed that will in time give birth to the next tree.
The hindu philosopher and teacher Jiddu Krishnamurti (1895-1986) said: Our present education is rotten because it teaches us to love success and not what we are doing. The result has become more important than the action. You know it is good to be kind without a name… you are just a creative human being living anonymously, and in that there is richness and great beauty.
When I seek change, I think about the hustle, the constant rush to be somewhere else instead of right where you are. With endless to do lists we find near the bottom, the list of some day things. Some day when life slows down, or I have more time, money or experience, but then I question, what about now? What about pursuing the pace of slow with the tiny steps that create big results.
Choosing a year of less hustle gives us the ability to uncover more about peace and presence. Instead of worrying what’s next, I want to notice this moment. Cultivating a balance that brings both growth and possibility, with room for stillness. The blank space that instills calm, the quiet that invites thought.
For me, a new year comes with big dreams of slowing down. An opportunity to look inward, to focusing on what matters. With technology changing faster than we can keep up, it is our responsibility to make decisions for our lives to help us thrive, not the influence of social media.
In those moments of quiet, we feel the nudge towards something new. Slowly, becoming immersed in the meaning of life.
