Last Sunday I ran the towpath half marathon for my 9th race in the 12 in 2012 and loved it.  The weather was perfect, the course was beautiful with the fall colors and the crowd was not too overwehlming but yet enough to keep you going.

Kathy and Bob were there to run the 10K which left from the same place as the half, and Chelsea went with me for the early morning drive to Peninsula and breakfast afterwards.

I'm still learning to pace myself and I felt I was going at a steady yet strong pace the entire race, running under a 10 minute pace and hoping to finish in 2:05, until hitting mile 12 where I seemed to hit a wall and it was a struggle to finish. Instead of having that extra burst of energy to push myself to the finish, I seemed to somehow keep slowing.

I still finished the race with a new PR of 2:07:08, 19th of 63 in my age group, beating my last PR of 2:08:40, but if only I could have pushed more that last mile... but it seems there is always something we are trying to improve... save that for the next race!

As usual I wore my Chica bands, which I will forever love and used my ifitness belt, however it was a struggle to fit my new iphone 5 in the fitness belt, I instead zipped that in a back pocket of my shirt.
