I just love the Scenic Route papers and never realized that they were actually named after real cities and towns! How cool is that!

Hi guys. I wanted to take a minute and respond to the concern several people have voiced here regarding the naming of our new Halloween line, Salem.

Salem was in fact named after the city of Salem, Massachusetts. As many of you know, all of our paper lines are named after cities or towns. Real ones. If you didn’t know, all of the individual papers in each line are named after specific streets in the town. That’s the way we do it, and have for a long time.

I will tell you that we seriously considered whether or not to name this line Salem because of the connotation that the name holds; however, after researching the town and it’s history, we became familiar with how the people of Salem have embraced the city’s history and have attempted to turn a horrible historical event into something positive that the people of the town rally around. Each year the city holds a month long Halloween celebration which generates the majority of the funds used to support the local museums that teach people about the events that took place long ago.

We apologize if you are offended with the name. Please know we meant no disrespect to the people, the city or the events that took place there in the 1600’s.
