"Suffering is inevitable, they said, but how we respond to that suffering is our choice. Not even oppression or occupation can take away this freedom to choose our response. Right”
~The book of joy
What brought you Joy: Week 12
As I read The book of JOY I am reminded of the simple ways to unravel joy. Noticing the positive changes as I learn from heartache and the betrayals of life that once delivered pain and now reflect the meaning they came to teach.
How hindsight provides the key to joy when I accept the downfalls as they arrive knowing they are steps to guide me.
When we are able to discover meaning for suffering there will be joy, and as long as there is hope, joy is nearby. "I have a choice when hard times arrive, suffering can embitter me or ennoble me, the difference comes when I seek to divulge the meaning behind the suffering." The book of Joy
As written, in order to grow with a generosity of spirit, we must undergo some way or other a diminishing, or frustration. When each roadblock reveals compassion instead of anger and I begin questioning the why of others actions, I strengthen compassion.
The way someone treats you speaks of their emotional state and has little to do with you. All the unnecessary hurt displaced from someone else's baggage is revealed when I recognize their actions/suffering is about them and has little to do with me.
This reminder has awakened my soul with each transformation providing the space to guide me on a journey I had never imagined, to all the places where joy is revealed and especially with the family and friends that surround me.
Looking back at what brought joy...
