Where music can take you

August 30, 2007

Have you ever driven down the road and a song comes on the radio and it takes you to another place, another time. Sometimes even a long ago memory sneaks up on you.

Well that's what happened to me the other day. While flipping stations on the radio I heard a songs by The Kinks and by Moody Blues, it took me back to when I was a child and we would visit my Grandmother. No my grandmother did not listen to The Kinks or Moody blues, my uncle Jim did though.

I remember climbing the steep dark stairway that led you to his "attic" room. The room itself was dimly lit by black lights and lava lamps and had the distinct smell of both attic and incense in the air.

My siblings and I all thought this was the coolest place to be!
