Time for healing

January 12, 2015

Have you ever wished time away? I know I have...

When I am going through a rough season I close my eyes and wish the time away, offering it a voice. Praying for space to distance me from the pain until  I feel stronger, after already completing the hard work that healing requires.

I know from past experience that time does help, although it requires working through the pain to make you stronger.  When you do nothing, the troubled season will linger, leaving you stuck in the past.

To unravel the pain and search for meaning, you need to evaluate the situation. What am I supposed to learn from this? Sometimes the answer is not clear until there is enough distance to discover it. Some things have no answer except to change us in ways we did not expect. Knowing that each day as you muscle through the pain, you cultivate more courage.

This does not mean we accept the pain as a sacrifice, most times we had no choice in the despairing moments in our lives. Our choice begins with the steps we take, positive ones, towards our goal of happiness, joy and faith.

Because while your doing all the hard work, keeping busy with healing, time is going by. Before you know it your days are starting to make sense, have value and you find yourself feeling better, stronger as a more compassionate being.

We each have our own story to tell, and our pain we struggle through until we reach an epifany. Let's see how far we've come, and know all those hard times caused the growth in who we are today.
