Filled with insane heartache and intense joy...
Such an adventure we are on, one that either has us looking in the rearview mirror, or running full speed ahead, ready to take on the next challenge or experience the next joy that comes our way.
It is the heartache that teaches us about the joy, in which we learn to relish and appreciate. It teaches us how delicate life is, and how pure and romantic it can be. It teaches us as we unfold through tragedy and reach new triumphs. Tearing us down, only to build us back up to bigger and better things, and new found joy.
I've spent a lot of time looking in that rearview mirror, but as I learn and move forward, change, and grow, I take the teachings and move beyond them, no longer wanting to look back. And that's what life lessons do, either teach us and make us stronger, or they knock us down as we look for someone to blame.
Sometimes we have one thing that keeps us moving, maintaining the motivation to get through the down times. Use that one thing to help you through, whether its a word that motivates you, a quote, or listing your goals to help hold you accountable. It is once you write things down, and take action, that the miracles can begin to happen.
In 2012 my word was challenge and I was challenged in so many areas of my life! Revealing strengths I never knew I had, with adventures and fears I concured and heartbreak and life lessons I learned. Running 12 half marathons all over the US, challenging my claustrophobia and fears while ziplining in Kentucky underground, with so many other life challenges along the way. In 2014 my word was choice, because we always have a choice in how we will act or react. We are over half way through 2014 and I need to start thinking of next years word or action.
Over time as I document the lessons and stories that go with them I hope to help others with the pain that I have suffered, as well as the joy I have found. Proving how negative actions have a ripple affect and hurt so many in its path, as well as the positive actions that multiply, and maybe, just maybe, we will find some compassion in this world, one person at a time.
