IFL: Week 3 (Make a plan)

January 12, 2020

We spend January 1st walking through our lives, room-by-room, drawing up a list of work to be done, cracks to be patched. Maybe this year, to balance the list, we ought to walk through the rooms of our lives… not looking for flaws, but for potential.

Instructions for life: Week 3 - Make a plan and take small steps

January theme: Resolve to ♥

Ready...Set... goal...

Whether its a 30 day goal with eating or a 10 day goal with changing something else, show up for yourself in small ways. It is the tiny steps that make a goal possible, and if you don't plan them into your week, the days go by with no traction.

There is something to be said about showing up for yourself. Keeping that mental or written promise that only YOU know when you do. But sometimes we keep ourselves on track by telling others of our plan, and often, when we reveal the stories we wish to transform, we find others to join us along the way.

There's nothing better than an accountability partner. That person that reminds you, yes you can! Not in a berating way, but instead a cheering of "believe in yourself because I do!"

You can reach goals by breaking them into bite size pieces, like the saying goes, "How do you eat an elephant? One bite at a time." If a project becomes too overwhelming, find the small steps you need to gain momentum.

I've witnessed it with the building of our house. It seemed like it was a grassy field forever that we had to keep mowing. Now there is a house, and a lot of mud...

But my point is, there were small steps along the way that built that house, each step assembling one more piece of the puzzle until the image was formed.

It is the same with weight loss or writing a book, and I am working on both. We look at the overwhelming task before us, instead of just finding the ONE thing we can do each day to get us towards our goal. Drink more water, write one page, track your food. Simple daily practices become our habit which become the tiny steps we need to reach our goal.

 January Book of Bible: Mark

Bible Verse: Mark 11:24-25

24 Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours. 25 And when you stand praying, if you hold anything against anyone, forgive them, so that your Father in heaven may forgive you your sins.”
