Being me: Week 2 - Mission statement

January theme: The best time for new beginnings is now

Many new beginnings require a new mindset. At the start of a new journey as we set out for change, a mission statement to keep us inspired throughout the year makes sense. After following 52 weeks of being me, I decided for the first time to create my own. I was surprised how easy it was to put it together.

How to write your mission statement

Divide a piece of paper into 4 columns, and label as follows: listing 3-5 things under each

  1. 3-5 things I want most out of life
  2. things I want to see happen on the planet
  3. things that I believe make me special
  4. improvements in my life or achievements I can accomplish right now

Now, circle the most important from each column. Asking which resonate most with you, sit with your thoughts over a few days. Then using each of the four choices you picked, complete the statement by filling in the blanks

I will (insert circled from list 4) using my (insert circled from list 3) to accomplish (circle item from list 2), and in doing so, also achieve (circled item from list 1)

Keep tweaking words until your statement flows – you have all week

Write your statement and put in a place you will see often, possibly near that yearly calendar you are marking off?

I was surprised how easily this came together with all my scribbles.

I will improve my overall wellness using my kindness and inspiration to accomplish a community of giving and in doing so, also achieve my purpose in this life.
