The last two weekends I signed up to run in a couple of 5K's. For a while I didn't think they were worth my time, with the time involved to drive to the location and run for 30 minutes or less it seemed unproductive. However, recently I've been educating myself on ways to improve my running and have found that those 5K's are actually a good way to measure your improvement.
So comparing my two runs on 2 different weekend I did improve my time, although by mere seconds and with varying elevations...
Its a way to push yourself competing with other runners and for a short amount of time. So I hope to fit more 5K's into my current race schedule and continue to improve my time.
